Skincare: 5 Tips For Healthy Skin


In a sea of dull, grey-looking, wrinkled people, it’s clear that bad skin isn’t an issue that only a few individuals face. It’s a problem caused by the stress-fuelled, fast-paced lifestyle that we’re forced to lead, and it’s not currently doing anyone any favours. If you want to have soft, supple skin that radiates with health, then you must take proper care of it to counter the negative influence of our bad habits and problematic lives. For those who aren’t sure how to go about it, here are five handy tips to help you out.

Use sunscreen

We like to think that, unless we burn in the sun easily, we don’t really need to use sunscreen every day. You use it when you’re at the beach, maybe during a few of the hotter periods in the summer and that’s it. In reality, you need to use sunscreen every single day, even in winter, even in cloudy weather. Experts have been talking about this for years now, but still we find excuses not to do it, and this can lead to issues such as hyperpigmentation, photoaging and even melanoma. Protect yourself from the sun if you want to avoid wrinkles.

Cleanse properly
Even when you’re really exhausted and can scarcely wait to get to bed, you must clean your face. Remove your makeup and use a gentle cleanser to get rid of the dirt and grease. Once a week, do a scrub because this will remove the dead skin cells that sit at the top of your face and give it that uneven texture. Cleansing should be done twice a day, in the morning and in the evening, and you must never use any harsh soap.


After cleansing, you should always moisturize. Oily and acne-prone skin needs this step as well because otherwise you’ll be stripping your skin of its natural oils and it’ll start working extra hard to replenish them, so you’ll end up even oilier. Just take time to give that extra bit of nourishment to your skin once a week as you relax and enjoy the treatment. For a facial mask at home: 1 tbsp of yoghurt, 1 tbsp of aloe and one teaspoon of honey. Mix it all together into a thick paste, apply to a clean face and leave on for 20 minutes. Your face will be soft and rejuvenated.
Change your habits
Doing all this won’t help you any if you indulge in bad habits every day. Greasy food, smoking, lack of exercise and too much exposure to the sun are all things that are going to make you look tired and wrinkled regardless of what else you do. A healthy lifestyle should be your priority, especially if your aim is to look good. A balanced diet coupled with regular workouts and a proper amount of sleep should lift your mood, make you healthier and make your skin glow. Stay hydrated throughout the day and find a way to manage stress your skin will be grateful.

We have a very limited amount of time to spend in one day, and we’ll never be able to do all that we want to. So, make priorities. Is your physical appearance important to you? Do you want to feel good when you look into the mirror? Then do your best to follow these tips and you’ll be waking up to soft, dreamy-looking skin every morning.
